Insalata Caprese

Summer’s bounty brings an abundance of fresh and flavorful tomatoes to be savored in a variety of dishes. The pomodoro is a blessing of the season and a staple of Sicilian cuisine, one of the first regions of Italy to incorporate the tomato into its food. This classic Caprese recipe features the perfect balance of rich, salty, sweet, and savory.

Bona Furtuna - Classic Caprese recipe with Aged Balsamic Vinegar of Modena

8 oz buffalo mozzarella, sliced 1/4” thick
3 campari or heirloom tomatoes, sliced 1/4” thick
About 8 fresh basil leaves
Organic Oregano Flowers
Pure Sicilian Sea Salt
Invecchiato 7-Year Aged Balsamic Vinegar
Basil Infused Olive Oil

Prep Time: 10 minutes

  1. Sprinkle a pinch of Pure Sicilian Sea Salt over the tomatoes and let set for a few minutes to drain the excess water.
  2. Alternate the tomato and mozzarella slices on the plate. Sprinkle Organic Oregano Flowers and Pure Sicilian Sea Salt over dish. Tear basil leaves in half and spread over dish.
  3. Finish with a drizzle of Basil Infused Olive Oil and a drizzle of Invecchiato Aged Balsamic Vinegar. Mangiamo!
