Impact Report

From the start of Bona Furtuna, community and the environment have been at the core of what we do. Our organic farm is operated in harmony with nature to enrich the land and the people that it serves. Over the last year, we've strengthened our support for the communities and environments where we work as we move closer to our goal of becoming fully carbon neutral by 2025. Here's what you've helped us accomplish:

Bona Furtuna Sustainability Report

B Corp Certified

Late last year we became a Certified B Corporation with a B-Corp score of 95. This means Bona Furtuna meets the highest verified standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.

1% Of All Sales Donated

As a member of 1% for the Planet, we contributed 1% of all sales for the past year to two chapters of the Slow Food organization, Slow Food Monti Sicani and Slow Food in the Tetons.

2,371 Olive Trees Planted

For Earth Day 2021 we began a new tradition in Sicily: donating olive trees. In 2021, we donated 321 Biancolilla Centinara trees. This year, in partnership with Slow Food Monti Sicani we were able to donate 2,050 Passulunara olive trees.

The Passulunara olive tree is a native, heirloom Sicilian olive varietal that helps us further preserve the biological heritage of Sicily and it's unique ecosystem. Once mature, each tree can absorb 55 lbs of CO2 annually from the atmosphere. This is equivalent to removing 11 gasoline-powered cars off the road every year.

44,000 lbs Of Food Donated

In 2021, Bona Furtuna donated over 44,000 lbs of food ($320,000 worth) to local food banks where we operate in Raleigh, North Carolina.

All Orders Ship Carbon Neutral

We offset the carbon emissions associated with every order made through our website. Last year that meant we purchased offsets for 5,027,722 miles. These offsets go towards reforestation and renewable energy projects around the globe.

New Packaging

We also introduced new, more efficient custom packaging in September to reduce waste and damages. Additionally, we've continued to increase the amount of packaging that is post-consumer recycled content.
